European sanctions following the invasion of Ukraine

Following the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, the European Union has put in place a series of measures to sanction the economies of the Russian and Belarusian territories.

The measures presented below are the general measures taken against Russia and Belarus. Individual measures such as asset freezes or travel bans are not summarised here.

For the persons listed in Annex IV, the authorisation can only be granted in case of non-military end-user and non-military end-use, unless in case of emergency for human health or safety or for the environment, or in case of a contract concluded before 26 February 2022, provided that the authorisation is requested before 1 May 2022.

In any case, the authorisation cannot be granted when the supply relates to aviation or the space industry or to the energy industry , unless the transaction is authorized as under the regulation.
